From Black Dog Productions, In An Endless Garden is a compassionate look at the relationships of a woman who finds herself lost in a strange, beautiful, ever growing garden, and how they make her who she is.
For this performance I was asked for a soft, minimal underscore as well as some natural audio soundscapes. For the score, I used Felt Instruments muted piano, which I paired with a generative patch in Ableton, which would create distant sounding notes and riffs based on which chords are being played. For the soundscape, I headed to Ashton Court to capture some field recordings of the local birdsong, and layered this with other bird calls. For some sections, the birdsong has been modulated slightly to give the soundscape an ethereal, otherworldly tone.
